Software Developer

This position will support the Department of Family Medicine’s faculty involved in Medical Informatics and Education to design, program and evaluate systems to document clinical care, study the effects of clinical care, the effects of computer systems on clinical care and education, the ability of computer systems to enhance clinical education and the tracking of educational programs. This individual will program desktop, web, and distributed applications. Perform database design, implementation and maintenance. Test and deploy thick client, telephony and web applications. Provide tech support for active production applications.

  • Qualifications: At least 1-2 years of programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Visual Basic.NET, C#, ASP.NET, and/or Java.
  • Preferred at least 1 year of programming experience in the following scripting languages is preferred: HTML, AJAX, Windows Scripting Host, and T-SQL or ANSI SQL.
  • Additionally, experience with .NET assemblies, XML web services, WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation), Silverlight, Microsoft SharePoint, ADO.NET and ADO a plus.
  • Requires expertise with the development and manipulation of relational databases and the ability to write queries, views and stored procedures. Familiarity with the design of software user interfaces for usability and accessibility is necessary. Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/XP/Vista, Internet Information Server, SQL Server and MS Office including Access required. Must be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision. Must have strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Must work well both independently and as part of larger projects, and should deal well with ambiguity and last-minute changes.
