FMMD 8411 Foreign Language Immersion

Restrictions: NOT AVAILABLE DURING FINAL 6 WEEKS OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR.

Prerequisite: Prior approval of the Course Director and from the Associate Dean for Student Affairs required to register.

Students will attend an accredited foreign language school in a foreign country where the language is spoken. Participation is 20 hours of language class per week AND concurrently either a medical language course for 5 hours/week or a volunteer family medicine or general practice clinical activity 2 half-days/week. Completion of all 3 of the Successful International Experiences sessions is required. In-country and UCD course forms must be completed a minimum of 60 days prior to the start of the elective. All details including the Pre-Travel Checklist for International Electives, course registration, course specific goals and objectives, and travel and accommodation arrangements for the elective must be finalized and confirmed a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of the elective.
