NOT AVAILABLE TO 4TH YEAR STUDENTS DURING THE LAST 6 WEEKS OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR.
Prerequisite: Approval from the Associate Dean for Student
Affairs required to register.
This experience focuses on the management of
problems common to Family Medicine outside of the United States.
Both inpatient and outpatient clinical experiences are
acceptable. A minimum of 6 half-days per week of clinical activity with a maximum of 4 half-days per
week of non-clinical education activities is required.
Completion of all 3 of the
Successful
International Experiences sessions is
required. In-country and UCD
course forms must be completed a minimum of 60 days prior to the start
of the elective. All details
including the
Pre-Travel
Checklist for International Electives (Word file), course registration, course specific goals and objectives, and travel
and accommodation arrangements for the elective must be finalized and
confirmed a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of the elective.
A passport valid
for at least 6 months beyond your travel date is required for travel
outside of the United States – check your passport now.
